I have a personal and professional interest in diabetes education. My family has been affected by it and I see diabetes as a disease that is not only increasing nationally but also right here in rural America. Education is the foundation of what I do. I believe that knowing about diabetes and the options allows my patients the ability to make knowledgeable decisions and choices. I try to involve my patients in the decisions of their care, as they are the ones who have to go home and live day by day with the plan that we set up. I truly enjoy being able to help people with diabetes make a difference in their daily lives in addition to helping them get their diabetes under control and decrease their chances of having to deal with long term complications. Diabetes management is definitely a team effort with the patient being the center of the team.
